THE WORLD FAMOUS FOUNDER of modern binomial nomenclature, the Swedish scientist Carl von Linné, personally named the lemurs “Lemur catta” 1758, when he used it in the 10th edition of Systema Naturae. In the wild you will only find these friendly creatures on the Island of Madagascar. Due to intense deforestation and establishments of Palmolive plantations their natural habitat is endangered. This happy group is part of joint European breedingprogram and have found a safe and pleasant haven at Junsele Djurpark.
